Every platform on Throbbs.Reviews earns a metal bolt — Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum — and that bolt is simply a visual shorthand for one number: the overall score. The score is derived, never hand-set, and the tier is derived from the score. Nothing about it is negotiable with the platforms we review.
The four dimensions
We score every platform on the same four dimensions, each out of five: content quality, update cadence, value for money, and support & UX. The overall is a weighted blend, and update cadence carries real weight — it's the single best predictor of whether you'll still be happy a year in.
A platform that shot a burst of great scenes and stopped will always score below one that keeps shipping, even if the back-catalogue looks bigger today.
Why the glow means something
Only Gold and Platinum tiers glow. That's deliberate — the glow is a prestige signal, so when you see it, it means top-tier, not just 'above average.' Bronze and Silver stay flat.
